Schuylerville Youth Lacrosse shared how appreciative the program was for the funds they were receiving, $6,917, for equipment, supplies, tournament fees, and scholarships. Also, with the program being based out of Schuylerville Park,  a portion will go towards painting the fields they primarily utilize there, which they typically end up painting up to eight to 10 times a year, as well as for lacrosse cages and coaching classes for the volunteer coaches.

“All of our volunteer coaches have to be certified lacrosse coaches and with that comes a monetary price for their US lacrosse membership,” the program stated. “Through that membership, they get First Aid, CPR, a background check, child abuse and coaching fundamentals, and a cultural competency class. That’s really important as our coaches develop over time and working with our youth.”

Grant money will go towards other equipment for underprivileged student-athletes playing lacrosse to assist them in buying sticks, helmets, shoulder pads, and cleaning uniforms as well as provide scholarships to help increase the availability of the sport of lacrosse to any student-athlete in the Schuylerville school district.
